Blake Gibson is a San Francisco-based painter whose current work revisits gestural abstraction as a means of achieving physical immersion in the painting process. Blake has had shows. His work has been mentioned in articles and books. He has had residencies. He even has degrees. He has participated in programs focusing on the intersection of art and environment, such as Land Arts of the American West and the Australian National University’s Field Studies program. Blake wishes his southern roots were more apparent in him, but nonetheless, he still loves his hometown of Taylors, South Carolina. In addition to being an artist, Blake gardens and manages installations and facilities at Root Division.
